SPEAKER BUREAU TRAINING Scientific and Medical Meetings

Do you conduct scientific or medical meetings? Are you successful at keeping the attention of your audience while discussing intense material? Being a sought after expert and engaging others when speaking require two completely different skill sets. For more than fifteen years, we have been preparing medical experts, scientists, investigators, brand teams, sales and marketing executives, academic experts and key opinion leaders to articulate clear concise messages when discussing data, therapies, new products and complicated procedures. Whether educating an audience about product features, updating important medical information, presenting slides, fielding tough questions or discussing a controversial issue, it's critical to make sense of information and put it in context for listeners.

We are flattered that our medical presentation skills programs have repeatedly been rated as "the single most worthwhile speakers program I have ever attended."

Pharmacies: Moving Beyond the Message

We also work closely with medical education companies to provide continuing medical education accreditation programs for groups of all sizes. Our speaker programs have been recognized at medical meetings and industry conferences in China, Singapore, England, Malaysia, Canada, Puerto Rico, Latin and South America, the Caribbean Islands and in cities across the United States.

Whether your next meeting is for 10 or 100, we will help your experts become expert speakers.

“I found the speaking and presentation coaching you gave me was the single most valuable preparation for the ODAC meeting that I received. Your suggestions were amazingly effective.”
-Mark Berger, MD, VP Clinical Development Geminex

FDA ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETINGS

Drug Approval Process Preparation
Throughout each phase of the drug approval process, individuals and teams must present data to key audiences including senior management, review boards, medical monitoring committees and FDA Advisory Committee meetings. They have to respond to probing questions, develop understandable key messages with supporting slides and participate in rehearsals and mock panels.

Scientific and Medical MeetingsThe preparation process requires tremendous effort, focus and communication strategy. Not only is presenting data in a clear, convincing and credible manner essential to supporting claims of efficacy, but team members must be able to give meaning to the data so internal audiences, review boards or committees can realize why this research is so significant and how the drug may ultimately impact or benefit the patient.

At KFE, we realize everyone has a unique strength so we work closely with teams and individuals to help them structure their presentations so they are more crisp, clear, interesting and focused. This includes goal setting, story strategy, writing, wording, preparation and learning to smoothly transition from topic to topic so the presentation is organized, easy to follow, flows and brings complicated data to life.

We frequently observe rehearsals and mock meetings to critique performances and subsequently work with individuals to improve and refine their presentations throughout the process. This often involves practicing on videotape followed by thorough question and answer sessions and intensive critiques. This allows peer feedback and helps presenters think through potential arguments and questions. Anticipating questions and developing well thought out responses is essential to the success of the presentation and approval process.

To keep the listener engaged, speakers must project presence and authority. Our coaches pay close attention to pausing, pacing, tone clarity and body language. Too often, presenters read instead of talk, look at their slides instead of the audience, fail to use visuals effectively and do not emphasize what’s important or why a specific development path has been chosen.

It is also important that presenters appear assertive to certain issues. This includes being able to respond effectively to interruptions and questions without losing focus, getting off track or missing opportunities to reiterate key messages and tie those messages to real examples and real people.

Visuals
We work with your team to make sure the visuals support the content and key messages. Presenters must provide enough information to explain the data, but too much information can be distracting. We teach speakers how to deal with the deck they're dealt in order to command material that they have not personally created, how to switch slides at the right time, maintain appropriate eye contact, direct attention to specifics on the slide when necessary and give meaning to the visual to help listeners stay focused, engaged and involved.

"It was wonderful working with you! The doctors continue to talk about how great your presentation was and how much they learned. They really enjoyed it and will remember your advice for years to come."
-Aimee Cancelliere, Director of Operations, US Health Connect, Inc.
